There will be a walk in aid of diabetes research at Drayton Manor on the 5th of October. Corrine and Steve Norris have helped daughter Emily cope with her diabetes for three years, and they are
encouraging people to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation’s (JDRF) annual walk. Type 1 diabetes is more serious than the more common type 2 and is a chronic, debilitating condition that will impact on the suffers life in a manner of ways. It occurs when the
body attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Many suffers of this type of diabetes rely on multiple insulin injections or pump infusions each day.Emily attends Tardebigge C.E. First School and has her own box that
is kept in the staff room containing sugary drinks, glucose tablets and
digestive biscuits in case her blood sugar levels run low. She also has
to have regular snacks between main meals. We would encourage anyone with the time to attend the walk to support diabetes research on the 5th of October at Drayton Manor.
