High school pupil wins dance competition

Posted on Monday, 20 October 2008 02:36PM by Editor

Nicole Barnett is a street and hip hop dancer from Blurton High School. At just 14 years of age she has beaten off stiff competition from over 80 other contestants to win the United Dance Association's (UDO) Best Duo category along with her dance partner Danni Wilshaw.

This means that Nicle now has a definite place at the UDO international dance competition, due to take place sometime next year.

Nicole, from Blurton, said "Before we went on stage we were so nervous that we were shaking. We didn't think we had won so when they said our names, we were shocked."

The dance off for best duo took place at Fenton Manor Leisure Centre and contestants aged 14 to 16 years old from over 20 dance schools around the county took part.
