Staffordshire Activities




Whatever your interests there is plenty to do in Staffordshire. If you want to get out and about and explore there is lots to tempt you and a variety of ways of doing it. Cycling is very popular, and with over 250 km of cycling paths it is a great way to get about and discover all that Staffordshire has to offer. Whether you want a gentle meandering ride along a converted railway line or something a bit more exciting off the beaten track. If Mountain Biking is more your thing there is a wide variety in the county, ranging from easy routes to more challenging technical rides for the more experienced. With places like Cannock Chase providing purpose built Cross Country Trails, Downhill Mountain Biking as well as Leisure Cycling.
If all that sounds a bit too energetic and your looking for something a bit more relaxing, then what could be better than exploring the Canals of Staffordshire by boat. Steeped in the history from the industrial age these sleepy back waters now form the ideal network to explore. The tow paths are also great for walking and cycling should you wish. Fishing is also a popular pass time and the Canals offer a variety fish. You never know you might be able to catch your dinner.
So you've caught yourself some fish, what to have with it? You could take a visit to one of the Farmers Markets in the area and buy some fresh local produce direct from the farmer himself. Still not sure what to do, perhaps you could try out some of the cookery courses on offer in Staffordshire.
Staffordshire has a rich heritage and there is plenty to keep history and culture fans busy.  There is the unique three spired medieval Cathedral in Lichfield, as well as numerous Historic Houses and Open Gardens. Staffordshire is Famous for is Pottery history, and a huge amount of pottery was made here in the 17th century when now famous names like Wedgwood started out. The are several  Pottery Attractions and Museums in Stoke on Trent for those who want to find out more about these fascinating times.
Returning to the present day, there are plenty of modern attractions too. Perhaps the most famous is Alton Towers Theme Park, providing white knuckle rides for the brave. The Snowdome in Tamworth, provides snow, ice and winter fun all year round.  There are plenty of Leisure Centres in Staffordshire too, offering a variety of Sporting activities.
A family friendly county there are plenty of activities for children in Staffordshire, whether they want the thrill of the Theme Park or to get stuck into some of the Outdoor Activities on offer.
