The Foodbank Idea will Run and Run

Posted on Tuesday, 10 January 2012 04:50PM by Judy and the Peakdistrict Online Team
THE SEASON of goodwill might be almost over – but the generosity of Tamworth residents continues, with donations still arriving for the Foodbank appeal.

Tamworth's Foodbank opened at the beginning of October at the former Manna House Coffee Shop in Glascote and has so far provided a three-day food supply for well over 140 people – but many more are being identified as needing help.

Every donation to Foodbank will make life a little easier for a struggling family or individual here in Tamworth.

At Christmas, Tamworth Round Table donated £500 to the cause – and Tamworth Anker Rotary have also pledged a cash donation.

Herald readers are still dropping off food to our offices in Ventura Park – and now Wilnecote Community Cafe is inviting local residents to donate food to Foodbank by popping along to one of two community cafe sessions, either on Tuesday, January 10, between 3pm to 5pm at Wilnecote Youth & Community Centre, or at their Belgrave Cafe at Tamworth's Community Fire Station in Belgrave on Thursday, January 12, between 3pm and 5pm.

The group are also doing a food collection along a route in Wilnecote as part of the Friends of Wilnecote Litter Pickers' annual food collection on Sunday, January 15.

Local residents along the route will be written to about how they can make their donation.

Anyone wishing to know more can get in touch with Lee on 07794 049312.
