The Staffordshire Hoard
The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest Anglo Saxon Hoard gold that has ever been found. Discovered in a field in the village of Hammerwich near Lichfield in Staffordshire, England on 5 July 2009, the hoard consists of more than 1,500 items. The hoard will be
permanently housed in Staffordshire.
All items recovered from the site are now in secure storage at the British Museum before the Valuation process begins. A selection of items will be on display in the British Museum from the 3rd November 2009 for an indefinite period.
There is a target that rewards should be paid within 13 months of
the find being handed over, but this can take longer in exceptional
cases. The Hoard is of mainly Military related artefacts.
