Wombourne

Wombourne is a large village (claimed by many residents to be the largest village in the country) located in the southern area of Staffordshire just 4 miles from Wolverhampton. Although Wombourne is considered urban fringe by many this is incorrect; it is a standalone village with a wealth of interesting things to see and do and is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Wombourne has seen something of a resurgence in popularity in recent years due to the construction of new housing, the most notable development is the Bratch Meadows Estate. The village sits atop the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal and Bratch Locks are just outside of the villages limits. Another popular destination for tourists visiting Wombourne is the South Staffordshire Railway Walk that follows the path of a former railway that was utilised heavily during the 50's and 60's for the carriage of heavy goods. The village green is regarded as one of the most picturesque in the country and is very photographed by visitors.

Wombourne is a beautiful village set in stunning scenery that should be a must visit location for anyone who enjoys tranquil village life and relaxing in a countryside location.
